Noél goes on a national team mission

Another person from KAIS Mora gets experience from a national team, this time it’s the head coach Noél Alm Johansson who’s about to get involved in a real cool experience. Noél is going to experience and participate in The Asia-Oceania Florball Cup, Noél is the assistant coach for the Philippines national team!

Noél, you are going to The Asia-Oceania Floorball Cup, what are you going to do there?

-Yes, it was decided rather quickly and it was somewhat unexpected. But that’s right, I’m going to Thailand to meet the team a few days before the cup and then the tournament starts July 1st with the opening game against China. First of all it’s about to train and to coach the team in the cup and try to contribute with my experience. Eventually it’s about me trying to help develop the floorball in the Philippines. This is a great opportunity to get to know the association, the players and the staff within the national team.

How is it that you’re helping the Philippine national team?

-A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Peter Eriksson, he lives in Manilla and has a background with KAIS Mora. He told me about the national team and their activity and the cup in Bangkok, I directly asked if I could be a part of the whole thing. It happened really quickly and a decision was made instantly, and now I’m the assistant coach for the national team of the Philippines. It has been a dream of mine for quite some time to have the opportunity to do something for the floorball community in the Philippines. I was only six years old when I was adopted and came to Sweden, through floorball I now get the chance to do something for the kids in the Philippines. It’s very inspiring and fun.

What’s the objective for the Philippine national team in the cup?

-They’re still waiting for their first victory in an international context. I’ve seen the planning and the build-up and I think it looks great and real interesting. I really look forward to meet and get to know the players.

What are your expectations of the whole thing?
-It’s going to be a real cool adventure and an amazing experience. I also have the hopes that this will lead to something permanent. I can see a future with a cooperation between KAIS Mora and the floorball community in the Philippines. What if this could lead to having a Philippine youth team in Mora or why not going to Manilla with a youth team from KAIS Mora? On a national team level I hope that this is just the beginning in my commitment. There’s a play off for the world championship coming up and in two years the hopes are that floorball is in the program for the SEA Games that will be arranged by the Philippines.
Thank you Noél! We hope we will get updates from Bangkok, be sure to follow KAIS Mora on social media!
